Steal Like an Artist
10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative
‘Steal like an artist’ is written by a successful young American writer/artist. He followed and studied several well-known people and artists, book he sharing his observations and learnings.
He asked each person where they got their ideas from. The honest answer was ‘I steal them’. Kleon believes that ideas apply to anyone who’s trying to inject some creativity into their life and their work. He states that stealing is fine, but only the stuff that is worth stealing.
He is also a fan of copying, as it helps everyone to learn. Copy your heroes – people you love and you are inspired by. The reason to copy heroes is to get a glimpse into their mind. Ideas don’t come from laptops.
You have to find places that feed you: creatively, socially, spiritually and literally. Finally, take time to be bored. Creative people need time to just sit around and do nothing.
