The Perennials
The Megatrends creating a Postgenerational Society
The current model of living our lives divided by age has served us well, but has become obsolete. This past era has been characterized by four phases: 24 years of play and schooling, 40 years of paid work and finally 25 to 30 years retirement. We have come to the end of this era and entering the Postgenerational era, offering every age group a more fluid way of living at every stage of their journey through life. We will witness the growth of the so-called Perennials, people who don’t think and act their age and do not conform to conventional notions and stereotypes of young and old. The sequential and linear way of life no longer can be held economically, ethically and expectations of younger people and young women. Adam Grant praises how the book "invites us to rethink our careers, our families, and our future plans.”
