Daniel Kahneman, the author, introduces the two thinking systems we all use to make decisions. System One, which is fast, intuitive and emotional. System Two, which is slower, more deliberative and logical. The stream of daily decisions are mostly made by utilizing System One, fast thinking. System Two, slow thinking takes effort, taking decisions on things that matter. This requires deep thinking to control our thoughts and behaviors.

We often overestimate our knowledge caused using System One thinking. System One thinking is shallow thinking, based on effortless lazy thinking. System Two thinking takes effort to maintain several ideas in memory simultaneously, requiring separate actions to discover the best solutions to a problem or opportunity. Never use System One in strategic decisions.
